Who is Francisco Hernández?
Francisco Hernández was a football player from Costa Rica. Better known as "Chico", he played his entire career for Deportivo Saprissa, where he was captain and an idol. He is vastly remembered for his quickness, great shooting skills, leadership and sense of team organizement inside the field. He was part of the famous Saprissa's midfield whose way of playing made history in the CONCACAF region.
He played during the 70s and 80s with Costa Rica's national team and for Saprissa, winning a total of eight titles with them, including the famous six consecutive championships won by Saprissa from 1972 to 1977, a record both in Costa Rica as well as in the American continent. His brother, the extraordinarily talented Fernando Hernandez, "El Príncipe", played for Saprissa too.
He played 35 matches for Costa Rica and scored 5 goals. He also played for Costa Rica at the 1980 Summer Olympics.
