Who was Frank Reiber?
Frank Bernard Reiber, nicknamed "Tubby," was a Major League Baseball catcher with the Detroit Tigers for three seasons, 1933, 1935 and 1936. Born in Huntington, West Virginia, Reiber played in 44 major league games. He had a .271 batting average with 15 hits, 7 runs scored, 2 doubles and 1 home run. Reiber was a backup catcher with the Detroit Tigers team that won the 1935 World Series. Reiber died in Bradenton, Florida at age 93 in 2002.
