Who was Frederick Tom Brooks?
Frederick Tom Brooks FRS was an English botanist, and was Professor of Botany at the University of Cambridge.
He was born in Somerset and attended Sexey's School, Somerset from 1895-1898. He went up to Emmanuel College, Cambridge in 1902 and became Professor of Botany there in 1936. He specialised in mycology and investigated, amongst other things, silver-leaf disease of fruit trees. His book Plant Diseases appeared in 1928.
He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1930 and died in Cambridge aged 70.
