Who was Fredrik von Essen?

Fredrik von Essen, born 30 July 1831 Hömbs parish, Skaraborg County, died 3 October 1921 in Stockholm, was a Swedish politician, Baron, Marshal of the Realm and landlord. Married to Ebba Aurora, born Brahe 1838th.

Von Essen was a member of the House of knights and nobility in the Parliament of Sweden 1862-1863 and 1865–1866, the first chamber 1867-1874 and 1877-1906. He became finance minister in 1888, serving first under Prime Minister Gillis Bildt and then under Gustaf Åkerhielm and the under E. G Boström to 1894. He was a member of the Conference of Presidents Reichsmarshal 1902-1906 and 1894-1911. He was chairman of the Executive Committee for the Swedish Iron- Clad Fellowship.
