Who is Fritz Münch?
Fritz Münch was a French musicologist and conductor. Born in Strasbourg, he was the son of organist and conductor Ernst Münch, the brother of renowned conductor Charles Munch, and the cousin of conductor Hans Münch. He began his studies at the Strasbourg Conservatory and then pursued further studies in Leipzig, Berlin, and Paris. He then joined the faculty of the Strasbourg Conservatory as a professor of music history, and eventually succeeded his father as the school's director in 1929. One of his notable students was Ernest Bour. He also succeeded his father as the conductor of the lauded Chœur Saint-Guillaume at Saint William's Church, Strasbourg with whom he made several recordings and radio appearances.
