Gilbert Q. Melendez is an American mixed martial artist currently competing in the Lightweight division of the UFC. He is a two-time Strikeforce Lightweight Champion and is also a former WEC Lightweight Champion. He currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and formerly competed in the Lightweight division of the PRIDE Fighting Championships, Shooto, and also participated in the Yarennoka! event. Melendez is ranked as the #2 Lightweight fighter in the world by Sherdog.
