Who is Gilo Muirragui?

Gilo Muirragui was a senior economist who worked at the International Monetary Fund from 1963 to 1989. Born in Riobamba, Ecuador, he immigrated to the United States in 1951 for undergraduate studies in economics at University of San Francisco and postgraduate studies at Harvard University. Now retired and living in Bethesda, Maryland, he writes articles as a proponent of participatory democracy.

Muirragui is a direct descendant of Giuseppe Moiraghi of Milan, a personal cook and valet for Napoleon I during his rule over the Kingdom of Italy.
