Who is Greg Cergol?
Greg Cergol is WNBC's Long Island correspondent and serves as a substitute anchor. He joined WNBC in 1999 after spending 9 years as a reporter and anchor with News 12 Long Island.
Before that, Cergol worked at WGSM/WCTO Radio in Melville from 1983–1990, where he held a number of positions including news director, anchor and reporter. During that time, he also worked in radio, serving as a news editor for NBC Radio Network News and posts as a reporter/anchor for WOW Radio in Omaha, Nebraska and WBCS Radio in Milwaukee.
Cergol has received numerous awards for his reporting from the Long Island Fair Media Council, the Long Island Press Club and the Associated Press. He is also the recipient of two Cable Ace Awards as well as five New York Emmy Awards.
A graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, Cergol received a BA degree in Broadcast Communications. He is married to Huntington Community Development Agency Director Joan Cergol and resides in Long Island.
