Who was Gregorio Fontana?
Gregorio Fontana was an Italian mathematician. He was chair of mathematics at the university of Pavia succeeding Roger Joseph Boscovich. He has been credited with the introduction of polar coordinates.
His brother was the physicist Felice Fontana.
