Who was Grigoriy Myasoyedov?

Grigoriy Grigoryevich Myasoyedov was a Russian painter and engraver, and one of the leading representatives of Peredvizhniki.

Myasoyedov was born in Pankovo settlement, on the territory of either the Oryol or Tula guberniyas. His father, a small estate noble, was the author of The Statistical Economic Review of the Southern Part of Tula Guberniya, published in 1849.

Myasoyedov attended the Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts in 1853-63. He visited France, Germany, Spain and Italy, but originally lived in Saint Petersburg. His last days Myasoyedov spent in his manor Pavlenki at Poltava. Among his most notable paintings are country-related Zemstvo, having a dinner, The escape of Grigoriy Otryepyev from korchma on Lithuanian border and The Mowers.
