Who is Thompson Mann?

Harold Thompson Mann is an American former competition swimmer, Olympic champion, and former world record-holder. He competed at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, where he received a gold medal as a member of the winning U.S. team in the men's 4x100-meter medley relay. He also broke the world record in his leg of the relay, the 100-meter backstroke.

He was inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame in 1988.
