Who was Ishar Singh?

Captain Ishar Singh VC OBI was an Indian recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Born at Nenwan, in Punjab, he was the first Sikh to receive the Victoria Cross.
