Who is Ismael Ramírez?

Ismael Jose Urbaez Ramirez was signed to his first professional contract on July 30, 1998. Ismael is a right-handed pitcher in the Washington Nationals farm system. He was named the #17 prospect in the Florida State League in 2004. He was also named the FSL's most valuable pitcher in 2004.

In 2005, Ramirez spent the entire season with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats of the Class AA Eastern League. He had an 8-13 record with a 4.12 earned-run average in 27 starts.

In both 2006 and 2007, Ramirez split time between the Class AAA Syracuse Chiefs and New Hampshire. He was more successful in 2006, going a combined 9-5 in 23 appearances at the two stops.

Signed by the Nationals as a minor league free agent in the 2007-08 offseason, Ramirez was assigned to the Harrisburg Senators of the Class AA Eastern League to begin the 2008 season.
