Who was Jim Ballantine?
Jim Ballantine was an American ice hockey center.
Ballantine was born in Union Lake, Michigan. A graduate of the University of Michigan, he started his career with the Columbus Chill in the ECHL. He also played for the Richmond Renegades, Indianapolis Ice, and Dallas Freeze. His stats are not highly impressive, his biggest claim to fame is being the first player to wear a 3-digit number in a professional game. He died in January 2002.
