James E. Dougherty is a former middle reliever in Major League Baseball who played between 1995 and 1999 for the Houston Astros, Oakland Athletics and Pittsburgh Pirates. He batted and threw right-handed.

In a four-season career, Dougherty posted a 8-4 record with a 5.99 ERA, 59 strikeouts, and 94⅔ innings without saves in 79 games.
