Who is Jim Goetz?

Jim Goetz, partner at Sequoia Capital, focuses on investments in the

component, systems and software sectors. Jim is currently a director

with Clearwell Systems, Palo Alto Networks and PeakStream. Before

joining Sequoia in 2004, Jim served as a general partner at Accel

Partners, where he spearheaded investments in companies such as

Entrisphere, Peribit (acquired by Juniper) RGB, Rhapsody (acquired by

Brocade), BroadJump (acquired by MOTV), Timetra (Acquired by Alcatel)

and Topspin (acquired by Cisco). Prior to his tenure with Accel, Jim

founded VitalSigns, where he went on to serve as vice president and

general manager of the VitalSoft division of Lucent. Prior to VitalSigns, Jim was the Vice President of Network Management

for Bay Networks. Prior to Bay and Synoptics, he held various product

and marketing positions at ATT, ATT Bell Labs, and Digital

Equipment.Jim has a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University

of Cincinnati and an MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford

University.
