Who is Jin Yuzhang?

Jin Yuzhang is member of the Aisin-Gioro clan, the imperial family of the Qing dynasty. He is the eldest son of Jin Youzhi, formerly Prince Puren, the current head of the clan. Youzhi is a son of Prince Zaifeng and half-brother of Puyi, the last emperor of China. The last published succession rule for the dynasty, adopted in 1937, provides for succession by male descendants, brothers, and then half-brothers. After Prince Pujie died in 1994, there were no other full brothers, and neither Puyi nor Pujie had sons.

Jin attended Beijing Geological University and was sent to be a geological worker in Qīnghǎi province. He later became technician at the Beijing Chongwen District Environment Protection Bureau. Since 1999 he has served as the only non-Communist Deputy Governor of Chongwen district and also holds the position of Deputy Director of the Beijing Ethnic Affairs Committee. He has a daughter, Jin Xin, who is a computer science graduate and is employed at China Electronics Company Limited.

Jin Yuzhang's younger brother is Dr. Jin Yuquan, vice-president of the Energy and Environment Protection College of the Beijing University of Technology.
