Who is Joel Klaiman?

Joel Klaiman is Executive Vice President and General Manager of Columbia Records. He joined the label in December 2012.

Until December 2012, Klaiman was Executive Vice President of Promotion and Artist Development for Universal Republic Records, a division of Universal Music Group. Most notably, he was responsible for the overall strategic promotion of multiple Grammy winning, platinum and gold artists, including Amy Winehouse, The Band Perry, Colbie Caillat, Damian Marley, Drake, Enrique Iglesias, Gotye, Florence + the Machine, Jack Johnson, Jessie J, Lionel Richie, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, as well as the mainstream radio and video promotion of country superstar Taylor Swift.

In 2007 under Klaiman's stewardship Universal Republic promotion helped launch that year's two most successful radio and digital artists: Amy Winehouse, who won 5 Grammys in 2008, and Colbie Caillat, whose hit single "Bubbly" dominated the Top 40 and AC platforms for 19 weeks.

In 2008, Klaiman helmed the radio promotion partnership between the country label Big Machine Records and Universal Republic to bring mainstream radio success to country superstar Taylor Swift.
