Who is John Orlikow?

John Orlikow is a Canadian politician. He was elected to Winnipeg City Council for the River Heights - Fort Garry ward in a by-election on March 17, 2009. Orlikow had previously been a trustee for the Winnipeg School Division since 1998., and held that post until resigning to run in a March 17, 2009 by-election to fill the vacant post of the late Councillor Brenda Leipsic. His opponent in the by-election was Geoff Currier, a host on the city's talk radio station CJOB. Orlikow was re-elected in the 2010 election, beating Michael Kowalson, with 55% of the votes. However, voter turnout was only 22%.

In another by-election held on the same day, his former seat on the school board was won by Rita Hildahl.
