Who is Juan José Esparragoza Moreno?
Juan José Esparragoza Moreno a.k.a. El Azul, is a former Mexican Federal Judicial Police officer turned drug trafficker. He is one of the three current leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel, along with Joaquín Guzmán Loera and Ismael Zambada García. Esparragoza was born in Huichiopa, in the Mexican state of Sinaloa. Esparragoza's nickname, "El Azul", derives from his complexion. He is said to be so dark that his skin appears to be blue.
