Who was Leonardo Alenza?

Leonardo Alenza was a Spanish painter and engraver. He was born in Madrid. He studied art under Juan Rivera and José de Madrazo, and became a good portrait painter, but was more especially famous for his pictures of the lower classes at play and work. He became a member of the Royal Academy of San Fernando of Madrid in 1842. He died in 1845 of tuberculosis in Madrid.
