Who is Leonardo Hidalgo?
Leonardo M. Hidalgo is a Filipino artist born in San Fernando, La Union on January 9, 1935. At the age of seven, Hidalgo already started showing signs of high potential in the arts. While at a parade, Hidalgo sculpted a figure of a man by molding the candle wax drip with his own hands. His art studies continued at University of Santo Tomas and was also granted an Italian government art scholarship at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome, Italy. Under the tutelage of art luminaries such as Galo Ocampo, Vicente Manansala, Francisco Ricardo Monti,among others, Hidalgo's art flourished. He has garnered awards for his work and has exhibited his paintings all over the world.
