Who is Leonid Maltsev?

Colonel General Leonid Maltsev was the Minister of Defense of Belarus from 1995–96 and then from 2001 til 2009.

He joined the Soviet Army from 1967. In 1967, he graduated from Minsk Suvorov Military School in 1971 in - Kiev Higher Military Command School. He served in the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany as an infantry platoon commander, with the 1972 and - mechanized infantry company commander, with the 1974 and - the commander of a motorized rifle battalion. In 1979 he finished Frunze Military Academy.

In 1979 and served in the Far East Military District, deputy commander of the infantry regiment, the 1980 and - the commander of a motorized rifle regiment of the school, with the 1982 - Chief of Staff Motorized Rifle Division, the 1986 and - Commander Infantry Division. In 1987 to 1990 s - head of the district training center for junior professionals in Far Eastern Military District. In 1992 graduated from the General Staff Academy in Moscow.

At the end of the Academy went to Armed Forces of Belarus in 1992.

On July 10, 1992 he became first deputy commander of the 28th Combined Arms Army., after the reduction, the 7 April 1993 from - the commander of the 28th Army Corps.
