Who is Liz Lloyd?
Elizabeth Anne Lloyd CBE served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Tony Blair's last administration.
A member of a virtual New Labour group who attended Guildford Grammar School, she graduated from Clare College, Cambridge, in 1993 before becoming a researcher for Tony Blair when he was Shadow Home Secretary. She moved into the policy unit when he became leader of the Labour Party in 1994, with responsibility for Home Affairs policy. After Blair became Prime Minister in 1997, Lloyd was Foreign Policy Advisor in the Number 10 Policy Unit. She has held a number of key coordinating roles in Number 10, and became Deputy Chief of Staff in 2006 with responsibility for much of the domestic policy agenda.
Lloyd became a trustee of The Tony Blair Governance Initiative charity in 2009.
Her former partner is the Labour leader Ed Miliband. Married in 2002, she has two children. Lloyd was made a CBE in the 2008 New Year's Honours list.
