Who was Lloyd White?

Lloyd White, full name George David Lloyd White, was a New Zealand diplomat and public servant who retired in 1978 as deputy head of the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

He joined the department in 1945 with a MA degree, and went onto the permanent staff in 1946. He had several diplomatic postings, including Deputy High Commissioner in London, and to Washington where he was Chargé d'Affaires from 1958 to 1961 and Ambassador from 1972 to 1978.

He died in Hutt Hospital aged 62, survived by his wife Miranda and son Tony.
