Who was Lord George John Manners?
Lord George John Manners was a British nobleman and Conservative Party politician who represented Cambridgeshire for over two decades, from 1847 to 1857 and from 1863 to 1874, when he died.
He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he was a member of the University Pitt Club. He married Lady Adeliza Fitzalan-Howard, daughter of Henry Fitzalan-Howard, 13th Duke of Norfolk, on 4 October 1855. They had five children:
⁕Cicely Elizabeth Adeliza Manners, died unmarried
⁕Captain Charles George Edmund John Manners, died unmarried
⁕Sir George Espec John Manners, married on 24 April 1884 Anna Gilstrap, died without issue
⁕Frances Geraldine Manners
⁕Major Fitzalan George John Manners, unmarried, officer in the Scots Guards, died of enteric fever aboard SS Tagus during the Boer War
