Who is Lori Beer?

WellPoint Senior Vice President Lori Beer became WellPoints acting chief information officer on May 28, 2008. Prior to this appointment, she was senior vice president of Enterprise Solutions and Chief Technology Officer (duties she will continue to execute while in her acting role). She is responsible for the evolution of the WellPoint Technology Strategy and the delivery of Enterprise Business Solutions. Examples of Loris recent accomplishments include: developing the vision and strategy for WellPoints Enterprise Transaction System (ETS); partnering with Chief Medical Officers team to deliver innovative Health Information Technology solutions including an individual health record, basic electronic medical record and ePrescribing; and making services-oriented architecture (SOA) real at WellPoint by doubling the number of transactions leveraging services over the past year and saving $2M by leveraging reusable services. Beer has held several posts at WellPoint, including vice president of Enterprise Solutions, regional executive director of West Information Systems, director of AIMS Release Management, and director of AMMS Program. Prior to this, Beer was senior technical consultant and systems analyst at Convergys Corporation and a software engineer for Westinghouse Savannah River Site. She has been with WellPoint for nearly 10 years. Outside of work, Lori serves on the Board of Directors for the Warren County (Ohio) United Way and spends time with her husband Bill, cheering on their three kids at their many sporting events.
