Chef Ude (Louis-Eustache Ude) was chef to Louis XIV and then Lord Sefton, William Philip Molyneux (Duke of Bedford) and later Crockford's Club in London. He left Lord Sefton's service because one of the guests put pepper in the soup he had prepared !
