Who is Lyle Elmer Strom?

Lyle Elmer Strom is a United States federal judge.

Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Strom received a B.A. from Creighton University in 1950 and a J.D. from Creighton University School of Law in 1953. He was a U.S. Naval Reserves Ensign from 1943 to 1946. He was in private practice in Omaha, Nebraska from 1953 to 1985. He was an Adjunct professor, Creighton University School of Law in 1958. Clinical professor, Creighton University School of Law, Robert Spire Intern Program, 1996–present.

Strom was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska. Strom was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on September 27, 1985, to a seat vacated by Albert G. Schatz. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on October 25, 1985, and received his commission on October 28, 1985. He served as chief judge from 1987-1994. He assumed senior status on November 2, 1995.

In 1997, his daughter Susan Frances Strom, died in the Heaven's Gate cult mass suicide.
