Who is Lynn A. Mickelsen?

Lynn Alvin Mickelsen has been a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1990.

Mickelsen was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho. As a young man, he was a missionary in the church's Central American Mission when it spanned from Guatemala to Panama.

Mickelsen studied at Ricks College and Brigham Young University. He graduated from BYU in 1966 with a degree in agricultural economics. After this, Mickelsen operated a potato farm in Idaho and also was involved in shipping potatoes.

In the LDS Church, Mickelsen has been a bishop, stake president, regional representative of the Twelve, and president of the Colombia Cali Mission. In 1990, he became a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy. At the time of his call, he was serving as a temple worker in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple, assigned to work in Spanish. In 1993, Mickelsen was transferred to the First Quorum of the Seventy.

Starting in 2004 Mickelsen worked with Jay E. Jensen and Enrique Resek in supervising the preparation and publication of an LDS edition of the Bible in Spanish, using as their base text the Reina-Valera Translation of the Bible.
