Who is Lynn Burke?

Lynn Edythe Burke is an American former competition swimmer, Olympic champion, and former world record-holder. She competed at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, where she won the gold medal in women's 100-meter backstroke in a new Olympic record time of 1:09.3. She won a second gold medal by swimming the backstroke leg for the winning U.S. team in the women's 4x100-meter medley relay, together with teammates Patty Kempner, Carolyn Schuler, and Chris von Saltza. The U.S medley relay team set a new world record in the event final of 4:41.1.
