Who is Lyubov Gurina?
Lyubov Gurina is a retired middle-distance runner who represented the USSR, the Unified Team, and later Russia. Competing mainly in the 800 metres, in 1994 she became the oldest European Champion at the age of 37. In addition, she co-holds the world record in the rarely contested 4x800 metres relay, with 7:50.17 set in 1984.
Gurina competed at the 1992 Summer Olympics, and won her semi-final heat in 2:00.77. In the final heat, however, she finished eighth.
