Who is Martin Sixsmith?

Martin Sixsmith is an Oxford and Harvard trained Russian scholar, British author, BBC presenter, and former adviser to the Labour government in the United Kingdom. His written nonfiction works have focused on Russian history and current affairs, and in fiction and nonfiction he has addressed political communication in government and the controversy surrounding Catholic Church oversight in Irish adoptions. His story of Irish mother Philomena Lee, who was forced to give up her son for adoption, was the basis for the award-winning feature length film Philomena.
