Who was Mary Teresa Norton?
Mary Teresa Norton was an American politician. She and Florence Prag Kahn were the fifth and sixth women to serve in the United States House of Representatives, beginning on March 4, 1925. Norton was the first Democrat, the other five having been Republicans. She chaired four House committees during her tenure. She was a labor advocate and a supporter of women's rights.
