Who is Mohammed Taheri?
Mohammed Taheri is the Iranian ambassador to Portugal. He became notorious for a radio interview to RDP/Antena1, on February 14, 2006 in which he questioned the deathtoll of the Holocaust - "When I was ambassador in Warsaw, I visited Auschwitz and Birkenau twice and made my calculations. To incinerate 6 million people, 15 years would be necessary."
In the same interview Taheri also attributed the Muhammad cartoons controversy to an Israeli conspiracy designed to cause conflict between Muslims and Christians - "We think that this is a conspiracy by Zionists who want to put Muslims against Christians in Europe" he stated.
Taheri was the Iranian ambassador to Poland since 4 December 1996 and is the Iranian ambassador in Portugal since 26 February 2004
