Who is Mohd Effendi Norwawi?
Former Minister of Agriculture Malaysia and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of The Economic Planning Unit.
YBhg Dato Sri Dr. Effendi Norwawi has been a State Assemblyman, Member of Parliament and Senator in the Upper House of the Parliament of Malaysia.
He retired from active politics in 2008.
Effendi is currently the Executive Chairman of Encorp Berhad, the company he founded and listed on the main board of the KLSE in Feb 2003. Encorp main activities are Property Development and Construction in which it has won several prestigious awards.
As at June 2013, Encorp’s GDV stood at RM3.5Billion with its Construction Division’s Order Book generating over RM2.2Billion and its concession’s valued at RM2.2Billion.
For its flagship development – Encorp Strand in Kota Damansara, Selangor; it won the 2011 Asia-Pacific Property Awards under the Mixed-Use Development category for Malaysia. The previous year, this development won The Edge-PEPS Value Creation Excellence Awards 2010 under the Commercial Category. In 2010, Encorp was among the top 27 listed companies in the StarBiz-ICR Awards 2010 in recognition of companies demonstrating outstanding Corporate Responsibility practices. In 2013, Encorp won the coveted “Asia’s Outstanding Company on Corporate Governance” at the 9th Corporate Governance Asia Recognition Awards.
