Who was Muriel Paget?

Lady Muriel Evelyn Vernon Paget, CBE, DStJ was a British philanthropist and a humanitarian relief worker, initially based in London, and later in Eastern and Central Europe. She was awarded an OBE in 1918 and an CBE in 1938. She received awards in recognition of her humanitarian work from the governments of such nations as Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Estonia, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, as well as Imperial Russia. In 1916 she was invested as a Dame of Grace of the Order of St John.
