Who is Najiba Ahmad?

Najiba Ahmad is a contemporary Kurdish-Iraqi writer, poet, and translator, born in northern city of Kirkuk. She studied Kurdish language and literature at the University of Sulaimaniya and worked as a teacher for many years before joining the Kurdish liberation movement. She has published three volumes of her short stories and of her poetry. She entered the world of literature in 1976; at which time, she was the only female Kurdish poet.

Her translations, from Arabic and Persian to Kurdish, include literary articles, novels, short stories, drama, and literary works for children.
