Who was Nigel de Brus?
Nigel de Brus was a younger brother of King Robert I of Scotland, who supported his brother in the struggle for the crown of Scotland. He was captured by English forces at Kildrummy Castle and later executed for high treason.
Born c. 1279 at Carrick, Ayrshire, Scotland a son of Robert de Brus, 6th Lord of Annandale and Margaret, Countess Of Carrick. He fought in the Wars of Scottish Independence and after his capture was hanged, drawn, and quartered in September 1306 at Berwick-upon-Tweed.
