Who was Okeover Longcroft?

Okeover Butler Longcroft was an English cricketer. Longcroft was a right-handed batsman who played as a wicketkeeper.

Longcroft made his first-class debut for Hampshire against the Marylebone Cricket Club in 1869. In this match Longcroft, despite being a wicketkeeper did not keep wicket. Longcroft bowled in both the Marylebone Cricket Club's innings, taking three wickets in the match.

Longcroft made his second and final first-class appearance for Hampshire in 1870 against Lancashire. Longcroft kept wicket for Hampshire in this match, but despite that he bowled in both of Lancashire's innings, taking five wickets in the match. His final career bowling average was 9.37.

Longcroft died at his family home - Hall Place in Havant, Hampshire - on 7 September 1871. Longcroft was just 21, and unmarried, when he died and the cause of his death was registered by the family doctor as typhoid fever.
