Who was Otto Eckstein?

Otto Eckstein was a German-born economist at Harvard University, member of the President's Council of Economic Advisers from 1964 to 1966, and co-founder of Data Resources Inc. In 1979 he sold DRI for over $100 million to McGraw Hill. Eckstein held an A.B. from Princeton University and a Ph.D. from Harvard University.

He was a key developer and proponent of the idea of core inflation. A frequent coauthor was Allen Sinai.
