Who was Otto Hitzfeld?
Otto Hitzfeld was a German Officer during both World War I and World War II. He was awarded the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords on 9 May 1945. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and its higher grade Oak Leaves and Swords was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.
