Who is Pierre Declercq?
Pierre Declercq was a French-born politician from New Caledonia, follower of independentism.
He was born in Halluin. As a teacher he arrived to New Caledonia in the 1960s. Formerly secretary of the Caledonian Union. President of the Republic received him and other members of CU on 19 September 1981. He was assassinated in his house not long after these events. His killers have never been apprehended.
