Who is Richard Dale Morrison?
Richard Dale Morrison pleaded guilty to damaging religious property for setting fire to an all-black Church of Christ in Henderson, Nevada, in 1996. He was the first person charged under the Church Arson Prevention Act passed earlier that year.
On conviction, Judge Philip Pro sentenced Morrison to 63 months in Federal prison. He served the latter part of his sentence at the high-security United States Penitentiary, Victorville.
In March 2003, Morrison was charged with a misdemeanor offense for assaulting "American Taliban" John Walker Lindh as he knelt for evening prayers in the chapel at U.S.P. Victorville. Lindh was left with only minor bruising. Reports suggested that the issue was the result of a feud between Muslims and white supremacists.
The assault saw Morrison face a further 6 months in prison. He was released on March 2, 2006.
