Who is Richard Hughes?
Richard Daniel Hughes is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder.
He started his professional career as a junior in Italy for Atalanta before moving to Arsenal and Bournemouth. He most prominently previously featured for Portsmouth from 2002 until 2011, and had a brief loan spell with Grimsby Town in 2003. He was capped 5 times by Scotland before retiring from football in 2011, however after a year out of the game, in August 2012 it was reported that Hughes was to re-sign for his first club, AFC Bournemouth. He retired in May 2014 aged 34.
