Who is Rita Kőbán?

Rita Kőbán is a Hungarian sprint canoer who competed from 1985 to 2000. Competing in four Summer Olympics, she won six medals with two golds, three silvers, and one bronze.

Kőbán has also been very successful in the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships with 26 medals. This includes nine golds, ten silvers, and seven bronzes.

She was elected Hungarian Sportswoman of the Year in 1994 and 1995, ending swimmer Krisztina Egerszegi's string of six consecutive titles.

After retiring, she briefly enjoyed a period as a TV presenter.
