Who is Salem Al-Ali A-Sabah?

Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah is the Chief of the National Guard of Kuwait and the oldest member of the Al-Sabah family. Socially, he has significant value but no political role. After the death of the late Emir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, however, Salem drew a lot of attention supporting Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah, the previous crown prince, to succeed Jaber. Saad was not eligible to be the Emir due to health reasons. On the other hand, the majority of the royal family agreed to nominate Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to the position. This dynastic dispute lasted for about 8 days before Salem agreed to support the nomination of Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as Emir. Salem is married to Sheikh Sabah's sister, who also happens to be the only full sister/sibling of Sheikh Sabah.

Sheikh salem also recently donated 100 million Kuwaiti dinars to House of Zakat charity to help the people of Kuwait who are in need.
