Who is Sidney Cowan?

Captain Sidney Edward Cowan was a World War I flying ace credited with seven aerial victories.

Cowan was a charter member of 24 Squadron from its 1 September 1915 formation. Between 4 May and 16 September 1916, Cowan used an Airco DH.2 to destroy four enemy planes and drive down two more out of control. He was then transferred to 29 Squadron, and scored once more on 17 November 1916, driving down a Halberstadt D.II out of control. As he strove to attack a second German plane, he collided with another British pilot in a double fatality accident.
