Who is Tim O'Brien?

Tim O'Brien is an American novelist well known for writing about the Vietnam War in the book Going After Cacciato. However, his best known work of fiction is the critically acclaimed The Things They Carried, a collection of semi-autobiographical, inter-related short-stories inspired by O'Brien's wartime experiences in Vietnam.

O'Brien has held the endowed chair at the MFA program of Texas State University-San Marcos every other year since the 2003-2004 year.
