Who is Tim Whitnall?

Tim Whitnall, is an English playwright and screenwriter.

Whitnall's critically acclaimed 2005 theatre play THE SOCIABLE PLOVER was made into a feature film by Poisson Rouge Pictures and Solution Films which received its UK premiere on Film4 in February 2009. Following its screen release at the ICA Cinema, London, the film received its DVD release in January 2010. For this work, Whitnall was nominated for Best First Feature Length Screenplay category in the 2010 Writer's Guild Of Great Britain Awards.

Whitnall's stage-play MORECAMBE - an original and affectionate tribute to the late, great Eric Morecambe - opened to dazzling reviews and won a Fringe First Award at the 2009 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The show opened at London's Duchess Theatre the following December to similar acclaim and went on to tour the UK through 2010. The piece was nominated in two separate categories in the 2010 Laurence Olivier Awards, actually going on to win top honours for Best Entertainment.

On 3 October 2012 BBC 4 screened BEST POSSIBLE TASTE: THE KENNY EVERETT STORY', Whitnall's single drama examining and celebrating the colourful life of 'Cuddly Ken', British broadcasting legend. The 90 minute film, starring Oliver Lansley and Katherine Kelly, was directed by James Strong and produced by Paul Frift. The work was subsequently nominated for several major industry honours, Whitnall himself winning the Breakthrough Talent Award in the 2013 BAFTA Television Craft Awards.
